Youth Town History


2015 – Eden campus opens


2003 – George Thomas Jr. Academy was established in memory of George Thomas Jr. Union University nursing program also begins.
2000 – Youth Town teamed up with Juvenile Judge of West Tennessee to host Youth Challenge program for non-custodial kids.


1998 – Youth Town entered into a collaborative partnership with Pathways to develop continuum of care from level one to level two serving ages 12 – 18.
1997 – Ground was broken for new administration building and two level 2 dorms.
1991 – Freed-Hardeman University and Union University mentoring programs begin at Youth Town.


1986 – Youth Town’s chapel was built in 1986.


1972 – The Youth Town gym was built in 1972. The gym was sponsored by Rotary District 676. Our 18 acre lake was built by 913th co of the 194th engineering brigade that same year.
1970 – Faith Cottage was completed. The cottage was built on faith that someday Youth Town would be able to repay Watlington Bro Construction. The cottage was paid for in 1971.


1967 – Jackson Rotary Club adopted Youth Town and built the first cottage. Rotary is still actively involved in Youth Town today.
1962 – Youth Town was chartered by the state of Tennessee.
